Salem man arrested after missing shotgun report
According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on County Route 153 in the Town of Salem after receiving a call from Joshua Trainor reporting a missing shotgun. Deputies interviewed Trainor and it was determined that a domestic dispute had occurred the night prior with a female victim he is familiar with and that she left the residence for her own safety.
Upon further investigation it was found that Joshua J. Trainor pointed a loaded shotgun at the victim and threatened her with it. The victim later hid the weapon after the dispute for her safety which prompted Trainor to report it missing.
Trainor was subsequently arrested without incident and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, a class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, a class D Felony, and Menacing 2nd, a class A Misdemeanor.
He was transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward where he was processed and held for arraignment in CAP Court. He was later released after posting bail.
